Conch Republic Parade
Last night my family went to the world’s longest parade. Every year we load up the kids in the wagon and walk down to Flamingo Crossing to eat ice cream while we wait for the parade. It started way past “Key West time” though. I think the parade was supposed to start at 7:00 but it didn’t start until around 8:00. I guess time is all relative in Key West.
While we were eating our ice cream, a man came up to us and made things for the kids out of balloons. We chatted with Officers Donny and Randal and then they were off to get the parade started. Luckily the kids were then entertained by their balloons for the rest of the hour long wait.
The parade started off by the police on horses, followed by floats, bicycles, pirates, Howard Livingston, old cars, an old fire truck, and a group of performers dancing to music and a few others that I have not mentioned. After the parade, we returned home with lots of beads and candy and a few very happy children. I hope that you got a chance to experience the fun and craziness of this week. The week is almost over but there are still a few more things to enjoy.
